ARTICLE 19, along with Amnesty International, Privacy International, Access, the American Civil Liberties Union, the Association for Progressive Communications, Electronic Frontier Foundation, and the International Commission of Jurists have developed a checklist that sets out the requirements we believe prospective candidates should meet for the new position of UN Special Rapporteur on the right to privacy.
This mandate was created on 26 March 2015 by the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, through the adoption of a resolution led by Brazil and Germany.
Applications must be submitted online by 30 April 2015.
Together, we hope to ensure that an individual is appointed to meet the mounting global challenges that the right to privacy is currently facing. We encourage the broad dissemination of the call for applications, together with this checklist.
